Job Title: Compliance Officer

Reporting to: Head of Compliance & Risk

Job Purpose

To support the Whitmill Compliance team in its activities to ensure that Whitmill meets its regulatory and legal obligations in the operation of its business and the management of its client base.

To support to the Head of Compliance & Risk, the wider Compliance team and the Whitmill business in maintaining a compliance culture throughout the business.

Key Result Areas

  • Help drive the Compliance Monitoring Programme through the Whitmill business, testing compliance with stated controls per the compliance test document and in line with the stated timeframe. Review and confirm draft findings with the business ahead of agreeing test results and escalation to the Board with meaningful MI and analysis of control failing, potential impact and recommendations (including remedial activity).
  • Undertake financial crime / CFT / CPF screening across Whitmill’s client base for new business and for ad hoc transactional activity or other bespoke requests providing insight to the business in relation to test results to mitigate exposure to money laundering, financial terrorism and other financial crime. The role holder will also be a primary contact for Whitmill’s primary service provider in this area, KYC 360.
  • Undertake adverse media checks across Whitmill’s higher risk client base and for ad hoc transactional activity or for other bespoke requests providing insight into the business in relation to test results to mitigate exposure to money laundering, financial terrorism, proliferation financing and other financial crime.
  • Provide monthly key risk and key performance indicator management information to various stakeholders within prescribed timeframes including Whitmill’s board and regulated fund entities to help drive risk mitigation and a compliance culture across the business.
  • Involvement in Compliance / non-Compliance project / quasi project activity helping to ensure the Whitmill business is supported from a Compliance perspective, operates efficiently, effectively and in a compliant manner.
  • Coaching and supporting colleagues in relation to AML / CFT / CPF policy, procedure and other controls to help increase knowledge and compliance with regulation and other laws.
  • Review of Whitmill’s policies and procedures to ensure these remain compliant with Jersey regulation / legislation (Handbook, Codes of Practice, Law and wider guidance etc.) to include formal mapping and change proposals.
  • Support as and when required Whitmill’s MLCO / CO and MLRO in relation to broader compliance activity to help ensure regulatory obligations are met and that the business acts in a fully compliant manner.
