The Whitmill Wonders take on the Jersey Marathon 2018
09 October 2018
The Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon 2018 took place this Sunday 7th October and Whitmill Trust entered into the relay.
Simone Lowes, Alex Alderton, Chris Ash, Lewis Cooper and Stuart Buchanan all put on their running shoes to complete a leg of the course each. The team finished with a fantastic time of 4 hours and 13 minutes.
This year the marathon was in its 13th year with over 2,500 competitors running in the event. With a professional yet friendly atmosphere the event welcomes a variety of runner types, elite athletes compete for prize money and times, while corporate teams vie for the prestige of winning the trophy and many others compete to do something truly amazing for the benefit of others.
The Whitmill Wonders raised £570 for the Marathon’s charities – Seeing is Believing and Jersey Hospice Care.
The relay race is as much about having fun with friends and colleagues as it is about sporting prowess. The Relay Race has grown from strength to strength over the past nine years. Supporting charity is a bedrock of the Standard Chartered Jersey marathon. Besides the numerous causes supported by runners who ‘run for a reason’ each year the event benefits a local charity chosen by staff of Standard Chartered as well as Seeing is Believing (SiB), the Bank’s global programme to tackle preventable blindness.
We are very proud of our team. Well done to all who took part in the 2018 Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon. There is still time to donate to the Marathon Charities, please use the following LINK
